Just a quick word on this. I am a great great great great great great grandson of Fletcher Christian, who instigated the Mutiny on the Bounty. My grandmother has traced our line back through him to the 1200s. The poem below is my family tree of that side. The poem is divided into two parts and works as follows:

the number one person in the first part married the letter 'a' person from the second part, they had a child who is number two in the first part. this number two person married the letter 'b' person from the second part and they had a child who is number three in the first part, who in turn married the letter 'c' person from the second part and therefore had a child who is number four in the first part etc. etc.:
