The Aztec alters of commerce
fill the screen, priests calling
the faithful to pay in all conscience.

The small printed clause of war
hidden in the breakfast news,
the cereal limbs of children
spilled out like plastic toys.

"We have come to kill your children
because you mean to kill ours."
"We have come to kill your children
because you already kill yours."

Listen to the Enlightenment
spin in the shallow grave
of these cave dwellers thoughts.
