< back : index : next >    An Unkindness of Ravens : by Rebecca Lu Kiernan

P a n o r a m i c

My jagged heart no longer fits
Slammed together, Picassoesque,
Monster mauled, grotesque,
Resembling his face, his emptiness.

He brought the stars
To the pink April sky,
Painted in
An unkindness of ravens,
A starved black cloud, razory beaked
That left the world misshapen.

My jagged heart no longer fits;
Round the edges with your kiss.
Carry me into the eclipsing moonrise.
Don't look into the beautiful birds' eyes.
